Transportation: On the Road to Safety

MSAD #36 places a high priority on the safety of students. Transportation/Maintenance Director, Ken Vining, arranged for a training session for our bus drivers on December 30.

The session included many vital issues, including transporting Pre-schoolers, Pre-and Post-Trip Bus Inspections, Evacuations, General and Special Needs, Driving techniques and Death Zones. Drivers participated in the presentation, watched tapes to reinforce concepts, and were quizzed.

We also hope all our readers understand the value we place on delivering our students to their destinations in a safe and orderly manner, and remind you to observe the rules of the road when it comes to school busses. When you see the yellow lights flashing, the bus is going to stop. Slow down and brake to stop. Once the red lights are flashing, no school bus may be passed, as students are entering or exiting. Remember that visibility is a key factor to ensure student safety. Bus drivers depend on the safety techniques they have learned, but also need motorists to do their part.

        Start at _8:00_AM start on Leeds Road (rt #106) to Strickland Loop, reverse back to Pine Ridge Loop back across Park Street, (Rt #133) to Campground Road, proceed to Haines Corner Road, go on to Blind Road, to Jug Hill Road, back to Campground Road. Go  back to Haines Corner Road and pick up upper end of Dodge Road, reverse to Haines Corner then to Park Street.  Go right on Park Street to Gilbert Street.  Go to bridge, go to gate on Ski Slope road, reverse to Federal Road, pick up to Gibbs Mill Road then go to Elementary School.

       7:50AM Start on Federal Road, go to Botka Hill Road, turn left on to Goding Road to Hyde Road, back on Goding to Crash Road, turn right, go to turn-around, reverse and pick up on Crash Road, go to Hathaway Hill Road, Poland Road, back to Crash Road, to Federal Road, continue on to River Road, turn on to Maple Lane and pick up to the end.  Turn around and go to Lower Section of Robinson Road to Gibbs Mill Road to the Elementary School.

      7:45AM Start at Pike Road, on to Boothby Road, to intersection of Norlands Road and Rt#108.  Turn and go back to River Road, to Maple Lane, back to Strickland Ferry Road, to Norlands Road, Fish Meadow Road, back to Gibbs Mill Road to Elementary School.

      8:20AM Start.  Main Street from intersection of Pleasant Street to Jay Line, reverse to Church Street, Cargill, Knapp, Searles, Richardson, Bemis, Gagnon, Otis, Monroe, Richardson, Knapp,Millett, and Main Street to Bridge.  Proceed to Elementary School. 
 
Bus #8 Mary Hayford
        7:45 AM Start.  Start on Federal Road by intersection of Boothby Rd.    Back on to Federal Road, to Butter Hill Road.  Back to Federal Road, to Bear Mt. Road.  Back to Federal Rd.  Turn on to Boothby Road, Turkey Lane Road, Israelson Road, finish Turkey Lane then back to Boothby Road.  Pick up to intersection of Norlands Road. Back to Rt#4, pick up on Federal Road, turn on to Round Pond Road, go back to Federal Road, continue on and pick up on upper Robinson Road, end at Gibbs  Mill Road.  Proceed to Elementary School.

   8:10 AM Start.  Go down Park Street (Rt#133) First pick up is intersection of Haines Corner Road.  Continue to Leeds town line reverse to Hunton Loop, West Loop, back to Park Street. Left on Park Street to Lower section of Dodge Road.  Park Street to River Road, Androscoggin Bluff, reverse at Lyman Lane and pick up Park Street up to Snow Dump.

       7:40AM Start down Federal Road, then to Rt #219 to Bean Street, back to Federal Road, to Canton Road,  Shackley Hill Road, to Church Street,  back to Federal Road to Sanders Road, Norton Road back to Federal Road.  Federal Road, to Waters Hill Road to Stonewall Drive.            8:15AM  Start at Jones Road, Traditional Way, Heritage Way, Moose Hill Road, Souther Road, Master and Globe Streets, (trailer park) Reverse back to Moose Hill.  Record Road reverse back to Moose Hill, Fayette Road, to Metzger Lane to turn around, reverse back to Fayette Road, to Souther Road at Souther Farm turn around.  Reverse to Fayette Road, Pomeroy Hill Road, Parkview Road, continue on Fayette Road to Elementary School.

        Start at  8:15 AM Church Street to Union across to Pleasant Street, Park Street to Snow Dump, reverse back to Cedar Street, Highland Avenue, reverse to Sewall Street, Depot Street, on to Pine Avenue, Hillcrest back to High Street down Baldwin on to Church, then proceed on to Elementary School.
