To receive a diploma from Livermore Falls High School, a student must earn a minimum of 24 credits and fulfill the state and local requirements listed below: ENGLISH .... 4 CREDITS MATH ......... 3 CREDITS SOCIAL STUDIES .... 3 CREDITS SCIENCE .... 3 CREDITS HEALTH ..... 1 CREDIT PHYSICAL EDUCATION ..... 1 CREDIT FINE ARTS . 1 CREDIT COMPUTER LITERACY ELECTIVES: MIN. 9 ELECTIVES 24 CREDITS MINIMUM REQUIRED Note: 1 year of academic work is equivalent to 1 credit. Some courses are one semester in length, equivalent to ½ credit. To be eligible for promotion at the high school, students must meet the following minimum credit standings: Entrance to Grade 10 - 6 credits Entrance to Grade 11 - 12 credits Entrance to Grade 12 - 16 credits LFHS SCHEDULE: LFHS schedule is based on four (4) grading quarters. Students are expected to take a minimum of six (6) courses each year. Each class is approximately 80 minutes in length. The schedule consists of the "L Day" with periods L1, L2, L3, L4, and the "F DAY" with periods F1, F2, F3, F4. The school day runs from 7:45 to 2:00. GRADING AND RANKING SYSTEM Livermore Falls High School uses a weighted grading system to determine both a student's class rank and a career academic average. Simply stated, the courses at the high school are weighted at different values based on the difficulty of the course. For example, a student who enrolls in any of the following English classes would have his/her average calculated as illustrated below: Grade of report card Weight Career Avg Applied Communications 85 x 1.0 = 85.00 Academic English 85 x 1.05 = 89.25 AP English 85 x 1.10 = 93.50 The following courses will be weighted at 1.10 times the grade: AP U.S. History I and II Pre-Calculus AP Language and Composition AP Calculus AP English Literature AP Statistics AP Physics B Honors Chemistry The following courses will be weighted at 1.05 times the grade: Honors English 9 Anatomy and Physiology Honors English 10 Academic Chemistry Honors World History Honors Algebra Honors Civics Economics Algebra II Academic English 12 British History All other classes will be weighted at 1.0 times the grade. HONOR ROLL The high school has three honor roll designations: Highest Honors 95+ in every subject High Honors 90+ in every subject Honor Roll 80+ in every subject The following grading system is used at the high school: A = 90 - 100 Outstanding
B = 80 - 89 Above Average
C = 70 - 79 Average
D = 65 - 69
F = Below 65
